The Storm Engine Company is one of
four fire companies within the City of Derby, CT.
The Storm Ambulance & Rescue Corp is the only EMS
and rescue provider in the City. Although two
separate organizations, we operate primarily as one
unit. We protect and area of 5.5 square miles with a
population of approximately 13,000 people. Derby is
located about 10 miles outside of New Haven.
Together we operate two engines, one heavy rescue,
two ambulances, two hazmat units and two marine
units. We respond to an average of 1,500 emergencies
on an annual basis.
The Derby
Fire Department marked the 10th anniversary of
the September 11th attacks with a ceremony on
the Green. The Shelton and Ansonia Fire
Departments also participated in this event,
which was well attended by firefighters
throughout the Valley. Several dignitaries were
also on hand and each one reflected upon the
events of that tragic day. The
Valley Independent
Sentinel
was also on hand to cover the event -
